We are Fighting for Our Very Economic Survival !

For years, Virginia Beach has been raising taxes and fees to pay for their ill conceived plans and mismanaged special interest projects. Real estate assessments have skyrocketed, and without lowering the tax rate, many folks on fixed incomes are being forced to sell their homes and move from the area. Unfortunately, the Virginia Beach City Council doesn't have the political will and financial savvy to curb excessive spending. Our current ratio of residential assessments versus commercial/industrial and hotels 87% to 13% and tracking even higher. VBTA projects that in fiscal year 2010/11, residential assessments will have reached a staggering 90 percent of the total assessment value of the city. If this projection occurs, and unless some draconian spending cuts are made, we anticipate the tax rate to rise again in the $1.20 range, which would be devastating to homeowners and force thousands more out of the city.

BAD News!!!!

The Hampton Roads Transportation Authority has voted 8-4 to begin collecting the taxes and fee package allocated in the Transportation Act (formally HB 3202) beginning April 2008.

There are Constitutional challenges pending to repeal this poorly legislated act,
Those of you that care about preserving taxation with representation need to get involved to reject unaccountable regional government.
